I often get asked about the cost of Smartlipo. I think it is surprisingly affordable. I am sure that different surgeons price it differently, so I will simply give you my pricing.
Let me preface my comments by saying that you can always find it cheaper. However, I want to stress that even though there are small incisions, and you can return to work the next day, and it is done in my office with just local anesthetic and often some oral sedation and no IV’s, – does not mean anyone should be doing it just because they can afford the expensive equipment.
I personally think it is very questionable that physicians, who are not plastic surgeons, are doing this. Even more questionable is when non-surgeons are doing this. Not everyone is a good candidate for Smartlipo and if you cannot offer someone more aggressive procedures, when the patient needs it, there will be a tendency to do it on the less than proper patient. It is extremely safe, if you know what you are doing. I have done many, many years of plastic surgery and traditional liposuction before I started doing Smartlipo, many years ago.
I have done over 1,200 Smartlipos in my office as of February 2021. You also have to ask yourself, if it is being offered on Groupon, do you really want to do it? Would you get your neurosurgeon or your heart surgeon or your eye surgeon, from Groupon? I didn’t think so.
I charge by the area. An area is one anatomically area: eg a love handle (flank), an outer thigh. The inner thigh is a separate area. I divide the upper and lower abdomen into two areas. There is the neck (submental) and the bra line and the inner knee area, etc. You get the idea. I assume that each area is bilateral. This means you are paying for one area, when you do both outer thighs (saddle bag area). If this is confusing, my staff or I would be happy to explain it to you.
The more areas you do, the cost increases but each additional areas causes a smaller incremental cost. There is also a facility fee. There are significant costs associated with the procedure. For example each new patient requires a new laser fiber which is costly, as well as new drapes and towels, etc, etc.
I prefer not to list exact numbers since this can vary over time. I would encourage you to act sooner since we have been increasing the price due to high demand and a huge amount of experience, with generally very good to excellent results. What will not change is that additional areas cost less than the first area.
There is also a limit on how many areas I can treat in one session. For patients who want multiple areas done (this is quite common), I will often spread this over 2 different sessions done on different days. They can be as soon as the following day or spread apart by many weeks, if that is easier for you. If your area is much larger than normal, the fee may be slightly higher.
When you come in for a consult, you will be giving a quote with all associated fees. There will be no surprises. If you live far from the office, you can email the office photos and some personal details such as age, height, weight etc and we can email you a quote.
Yes. and many patients do finance their surgery. My staff can help you with this. We use Carecredit and Alpheon.
